This is an interesting excursion on the north side of Mount Etna, one of the most active volcanoes in the world and a World Heritage Site since June 21st 2013.
Going up the Mareneve road, you will be fascinated by the sudden changes created by the various orchards and spontaneous vegetation.
In the lower part, we will come across vineyards, olive groves, and hazelnut groves. Continuing the climb, we will admire the wonderful Etnabrooms (Genista Aetnensis), holm oaks, chestnut trees, downy oaks, Turkey oaks and the larch pines (Pinus Nigra) which, with their imposing and centuries-old specimens, form the wonderful Ragabo Pinewood.
In 2002 an eruption called “perfect” crossed and burned a considerable portion of the Ragabo Pinewood, and destroyed the historic tourist resort of Piano Provenzana.

This excursion will allow us to admire the different flows from the chain of craters created during this eruption. We will visit many green areas that were unharmed, including a beautiful beech forest.
Along the path, about 5 km long, we will find a series of adventitious volcanic cones and pyroclastic material, including volcanic bombs.
For most people, young and old in good health, and families with children.
Note: We will also visit a Volcanic Cave.
For the safety of hikers, the guide can modify the excursion if adverse weather and volcanic conditions should occur, or for any other reason that could compromise the success of the excursion.
