This tour allows us to visit both Mount Etna and the Alcantara Gorges in one day.
In the morning we will go to the North East of Mount Etna, where we will visit the Sartorius Craters of 1865; which have a particular geological and botanical interest.
From the Sartorius Mountains it is possible to admire, according to the season, numerous endemic species of Etna, including odorous tufts of Tansy, Spino Santo (Astragalus Siculus), Chamomile and Saponaria.
In addition, we will be able to admire a wonderful Aetnensis Birch Forest, and numerous volcanic bombs of considerable size.
After the excursion to the Sartorius Craters, we will head towards the Alcantara Valley along the Mareneve road and through areas where there are several vineyards, which produce Etna DOC Wine.
Going down to the Alcantara Valley we will see Castiglione di Sicilia from above, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy.
We will then cross Francavilla di Sicilia, until we reach the spectacular Alcantara Gorges.
In summer, it is possible to swim in the river and sunbathe.
For most people, young and old in good health, and families with children.
Note: We will also visit a Volcanic Cave.
For the safety of hikers, the guide can modify the excursion if adverse weather and volcanic conditions should occur, or for any other reason that could compromise the success of the excursion.
